‘Empowering Fair

Endings for New
Beginnings’-Louis Venter-
About Me
For over four and a half decades, I’ve been fortunate to share my life with my wife, raise a family, and now embrace the joy of being a grandfather. Over the years, I’ve learned that while we cannot change the past or predict the future, we do have the power to live fully in the present. This belief guides me in every role I hold—whether as a husband, father, grandfather, or professional.
As a qualified Family Law Mediator with the South African Association of Mediators (SAAM), I bring this commitment to each mediation session, helping couples navigate the end of their relationships with dignity, respect, and understanding. I believe that, with proper guidance, every couple can separate in a way that preserves their well-being and future happiness. My role is to support you in finding peace of mind addressing your needs with care, compassion, and professionalism.
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) and a Master’s in Business Leadership (MBL), complemented by over 40 years of experience across various industries. I’ve served on multiple boards and specialized in business turnaround strategies, but my work in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)—including mediation, negotiation, and arbitration—has become my true calling. This diverse experience equips me with the skills to address practical and emotional challenges that often arise in personal matters.
With respect, trust, and a deep commitment to understanding, I am here to help you through life’s most challenging moments, offering clarity and resolution when needed.
Services
Divorce Mediation Services
Divorce can be a complex process, and my goal is to help couples reach fair, respectful agreements that address all necessary aspects of their separation. A comprehensive Divorce Settlement Agreement includes the following:
Matrimonial Property
- Division of Assets: Fair distribution of both property and movable assets.
- Division of Debts: Equitable allocation of shared liabilities.
- Pension / Provident Funds: Agreement on division or management of retirement funds.
Spousal Maintenance
- Determining financial support arrangements, if applicable, for one spouse to support the other after divorce.
Children
- Care and Contact: Agreements regarding custody, living arrangements, and visitation rights to ensure the children’s best interests.
- Maintenance: Financial support responsibilities for minor children’s ongoing care and well-being.
Additional Supporters
Parenting Plans
In addition to divorce mediation, I assist with developing Parenting Plans. These plans support cooperative co-parenting arrangements and establish clear guidelines for child custody and parental responsibilities, ensuring stability and consistency for children after separation. A well-structured parenting plan addresses:
Co-Parenting Strategies
Techniques and schedules to support respectful, effective communication and shared parenting responsibilities.
Custody and Visitation Arrangements
Clear agreements on custody rights, visitation schedules, and decision-making responsibilities for each parent.
Process Overview
A customised parenting plan can foster a collaborative environment, making it easier for both parents to prioritise their children’s well-being. This is achieved through a clear, supportive process that includes an initial consultation, joint sessions with both parties, the drafting of a tailored agreement, and a final review and signing to ensure mutual understanding and commitment.
